at an elevation of 2157.2m, the Main Stelae Field is one of Axum’s most revered
historical sites. First laid out by Ras Mengesha Seyoum in the 1960s, this
extraordinary site showcases the majestic stelae erected between the 3rd and
4th centuries AD. These towering monuments, crafted to mark the royal cemetery,
are adorned with intricate carvings depicting windows, doors, and architectural
