Nestled at the foot of Mai Qoho hill, just north
of the majestic Dae’ro Piazza, the Axumite Heritage Foundation invites visitors
to explore a blend of history, culture, and intellectual heritage. Originally
built between 1906 and 1938 as the office and residence of Nubre’ed, the
highest governor of the Aksum Tsion churches, this building now houses a public
library with an impressive collection of books, archives, magazines, and
journals. The Foundation’s vision includes transforming the historic Nubre’ed
palace into an ethnographic museum, enriching the cultural landscape of Axum.
Visitors can also discover two Axumite throne bases within the compound, adding
a touch of ancient grandeur to the site, making it a captivating destination
for history and culture enthusiasts.
